The Chartnote Extension for Chrome allows users to insert snippets of text and dictate directly into a web-based EHR. Using the extension, you can search for a snippet to expand, or while having the extension working in the background, simply type the snippet abbreviation in the EHR to expand your template. Voice recognition is also available on the extension and lets you dictate using the Chartnote mobile app as your microphone.

Prerequisites for the Chartnote Extension for Chrome
Before you can insert snippets or dictate into your EHR using the Chrome extension, you need to install the Chartnote extension from the Chrome Web Store. Click Add to Chrome in the upper right of the extension window.
How to use the extension
The Chartnote Chrome extension will install an icon next to your Chrome address bar. If you click the Chartnote button, the Chrome extension will open.
Sign in to your Chartnote account with your email and password.
Once signed in, you will have additional options in the Chrome Extension:
Search for a snippet: Typing a keyword on the search bar will display results from your snippet library.
Snippet abbreviation expansion keys and prefixes: You can insert snippets directly on your EHR by typing the snippet prefix followed by the abbreviation and expansion key. (i.e.: @afib Tab↹). By default the prefix is the @ symbol and the expansion key is Tab↹. Click Settings > Preferences to change them.
Turn on the microphone: Click the on-off toggle switch to show the dictation bar. Click on the microphone to turn on the microphone and dictate.
Sync Chartnote mobile microphone : Click on the icon to show the QR code and scan it with your phone. See how.
Keyboard shortcuts: You can start and stop the microphone with you keyboard by pressing Shift and Down arrow at the same time. To change this preference click Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts > editToggle mic and type a new shortcut.
