Create an AI Note Template Using Chartnote Doc Wizard
The Chartnote Doc Wizard helps clinicians create better, faster clinical notes by turning their ideal note style into a smart, personalized template. Just share your specialty and a sample note, and the Doc Wizard will figure out your format, style, and preferred sections, then generate custom instructions to help you document more efficiently in your own voice.
Step-by-step Guide:
-
Open your AI Note Template Library
In Chartnote, go to the library that lists your AI Note Templates.
-
Create a new template
Click Create new template.
-
Launch the Doc Wizard
Choose Chartnote Doc Wizard to open the wizard tool (you’ll need a ChatGPT/OpenAI account).
-
Enter your specialty
Click the field labeled "What is your specialty?" and type something like “family medicine,” then press Enter.
-
Add a sample note (PDF)
Drag-and-drop your PDF sample note into the upload area (or click the icon to pick a file).
-
Process the uploaded note
After the PDF finishes uploading, click the indicated process icon to let the wizard analyze it.
Review the generated instructions
The wizard will produce:
-
Custom Note Instructions (overall rules and style), and
-
Section-by-section instructions (e.g., HPI, ROS, Assessment/Plan).
-
Copy the Custom Note Instructions
Select and copy the Custom Note Instructions block from the wizard.
-
Paste into Chartnote
Back in Chartnote’s template editor, click the Custom Note Instructions box and paste.
-
Add your sections
Click Add note section for each section you want (e.g., Chief Complaint, HPI, Physical Exam, A/P).
-
Title each section & add instructions
Give the section a clear title, then open the section’s instruction area and paste the matching instructions from the wizard.
-
Repeat for all sections
Continue copying the wizard’s instructions and pasting them into each corresponding section until all are set.
-
(Optional) Fix formatting
If pasted text looks off, first paste it into a plain-text editor (e.g., TextEdit in plain-text mode) to strip formatting, then paste into Chartnote.
-
Name your template
Add a clear, searchable template title (e.g., “Example Template”).
-
Save
Click Save template. You can return to the Doc Wizard later if you want it to help refine or edit instructions.
