Get ready for Chartnote 3.0

Chartnote 3.0 arrives on Sunday, Nov 1, 2026. Here's what to do before then, what changes, and what stays the same.

Who this is for: Everyone · Plans: All plans · Where: Web (app.chartnote.com), mobile app, Chrome extension

When it happens

  • Chartnote 3.0 goes live in the early hours of Sunday, Nov 1, 2026.
  • Expect a short downtime of about 15 minutes around 6:00 AM PT (9:00 AM ET). During that window, Chartnote is unavailable.
  • The Chrome extension and the Chartnote mobile app for iPhone and Android update at the same time.

What you need to do before Nov 1

  1. Open Chartnote and look for any draft or in-progress recording.
  2. Open each one and click Generate Note. Do this before Saturday, Oct 31.
  3. If you record offline in the mobile app, process those recordings into notes before Nov 1.

Your completed notes move to Chartnote 3.0 automatically. There's nothing else to do.

Warning: Drafts, in-progress recordings and offline audio recorded in the mobile app don't carry over automatically. If you missed one, email help@chartnote.com and we'll help.

Where to find Chartnote from Nov 1

The web app moves to app.chartnote.com. Sign in there with your usual email and password, or with Google. Once you've signed in, links and bookmarks to app pages on chartnote.com take you to app.chartnote.com. Our website stays at chartnote.com.

Tip: Update your bookmark to app.chartnote.com after you sign in for the first time.

What stays the same

  • Your completed notes come with you.
  • Your custom templates carry over exactly as they are, with no changes to templates or AI models. Your own templates now appear first in the template list.
  • Shared notes and Copilot conversations carry over.
  • Prices and terms don't change. See Chartnote plans, pricing and AI credits.

What's new in Chartnote 3.0

Finish Later and Highlights

Your recording is saved the moment you stop, and audio syncs after each pause. Tap Finish Later to get a Highlight, a short summary of the visit so far, then resume recording or click Generate Note when you're ready. Highlights are free. See Save an unfinished recording with Finish later.

Work across your devices

Drafts and recordings sync through the cloud. Start a note on your phone and finish it on your computer, or the other way round.

Trash and Archive

  • Trash: deleted notes and drafts stay in the Trash for 30 days, and you can restore them from there. Anything you delete from the Trash is gone for good.
  • Archive: takes finished notes out of your list without deleting them. Archived notes still show up in search, and you can restore them anytime.

Note: If you use a note retention policy, notes it deletes skip the Trash and can't be recovered. See Set note retention and automatic deletion.

Assistant seats and Handoff (Chartnote Teams)

Teams get a new Assistant role. Each paid seat (Member or Admin) includes one assistant seat at no extra cost. Assistants record the intake and hand it off to the clinician, who creates and completes every note. See Team roles and permissions: Admin, Member and Assistant.
